I suppose that this will be where I will be posting my thoughts on such topics that are dear to my heart . . . . or rather more appropriate to my line of work! In the last 20 years the medical profession has come under enormous pressure and attack (literally) from every corner of society. The usual suspects include lawyers, managed care and insurance companies, so I will be spending/wasting time on this web site railing against these forces of “evil”. Is this self serving? Well . . . . yes because I became a physician with the belief that being a physician is a noble profession and as such needs to be defended against those who would defile it! But my interests go beyond self preservation. There are many issues and forces that have reared their ugly heads recently to threaten the health and well being of patients, health care, and the doctor-patient relationship. These include drug companies, “alternative” medicine advocates, politicians (are these guys always messing everything up?), and the media who have tended to latch onto every story that paints the medical profession in a negative or scandalous context. There is always another side to every story and it is here where I will state my opinion as a counter point to issues that affect my profession and health care in general. Everyone reading this web site is welcome to leave their own comments in the message board. There are no “wrong” opinions. I hope that this web site will serve to educate and inform and participation is important.
